MINUTES OF THE 19th CIPR GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS GROUP  ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING HELD AT THE FOREIGN PRESS ASSOCIATION, 11 CARLTON HOUSE TERRACE, LONDON ON TUESDAY 21 MARCH 2006 at 6pm.

Lionel Zetter was in the Chair.

VICE CHAIRMAN’S OPENING REMARKS/INTRODUCTION OF SPEAKER: Rt. Hon. GEOFF HOON MP

1. The Vice-Chairman welcomed everyone to the meeting and introduced the speaker, the Leader of the House of Commons. Mr Hoon gave a speech and questions were taken from the floor.

APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE

2. Were received from Jonathan Bracken (Chairman) and 8 members.

MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING

3. Minutes of the previous AGM were approved.

MATTERS ARISING

4. There were no matters arising

CHAIRMAN AND OFFICERS’ REPORT

5. The Vice-Chairman gave the report on the year just ended and highlighted some of the accomplishments of the Group. The Hon. Treasurer circulated and presented the accounts to the meeting. The Auditors had approved the accounts. Christine Stewart Munro and Doug Smith Hon. FCIPR were then re-appointed as auditors for another year. A member commented that the accounts were in robust health but reserves were probably too high for the Group’s turnover. The Vice-Chairman agreed that the Executive Committee would consider this at its next meeting.
