CIPR GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS GROUP PRESS RELEASE

Embargo: Immediate 9 August 2006

“CIPR GAG and Communicate Research start biggest ever consultation"

The CIPR Government Affairs Group has teamed up with leading polling company Communicate Research to carry out the most wide ranging consultation with Members that it has ever undertaken. The survey, to be carried out over September with results published in the Autumn, will gauge Members’ views not only on all areas of the Group’s activities but with some more wide ranging questions about the future of the growing public affairs industry in the UK.

Chairman of the Group, Robert Khan, said:

“By teaming up with Communicate Research we can carry out a strong evidence based consultation to really get to the heart of what our Members think about some of the pressing issues facing the public affairs industry. With a contact base of over five hundred public affairs professionals, both in-house and consultancy, we can get a real feel for what the industry is thinking at this critical time. I will be particularly keen to gauge Members’ opinions on the debate that has been aired in the pages of Public Affairs News in recent months over whether the industry needs a single unified voice and whether we should be moving forward with a more generic Code of Conduct, perhaps with the APCC and PRCA. We will also want to see whether the changes and improvements the Group has been carrying out in recent months should be taken to the next level.”

Chief Executive of Communicate Research, Andrew Hawkins said:

“It’s a privilege to be working with Robert and his colleagues on this important project, and we would encourage all CIPR GAG members to take part. This is a great opportunity for practitioners to have a say on the future of the industry.“
