Integration into CIPR of GAG membership

The CIPR Government Affairs Group’s EGM took place on 11 November 2008. At the meeting, proposals to change the  constitution in order to integrate membership of GAG with membership of the CIPR were passed with overwhelming support.

What do the changes mean for members?

• If you are already a member of the CIPR then there is no change, but you should still vote on the proposals as they will affect the group.

• If you are not a member of the CIPR, then the Executive Committee have negotiated an introductory offer. That offer is £30 in year one, rising to 66% of CIPR affiliate membership in year two and then to 100% in year three. CIPR affiliate membership is currently £145.  Only members of the CIPR may be CIPR GAG committee members.

• If you are not a member of the CIPR and do not wish to join the CIPR then you will automatically become a “Friend of the Government Affairs Group”. You will remain on our mailing list and retain all the privileges of GAG membership.  However you will not be entitled to say you are a member of the CIPR or enjoy the wider benefits of CIPR membership. You do not have to take any action.
